女議員核心小組首次開會‧探討兩性平等捍衛權益,2008-11-21

（吉隆坡）23名朝野女國會議員組成的“大馬女國會議員核心小組”首次召開會議，探討兩性平等、捍衛女性權益如30%女性加入決策層等事項。

土保黨峇丹砂隆區國會議員南茜蘇克利將出任大馬核心小組主席，署理主席是行動黨大山腳區國會議員章瑛。

南茜蘇克利週四（11月20日）首次主持會議後在國會走廊展召開新聞發佈會時指出，核心小組未來將成立一個性別平等委員會，屆時將邀請男性國會議員加入。

出席者包括馬華振林山區國會議員曾亞英、行動黨區沙登區國會議員張念群、公正黨班底谷區國會議員努魯依莎、公正黨安邦區國會議員祖萊達、公正黨關丹區國會議員傅芝雅及回教黨帝帝皇沙區國會議員洛洛莫哈末卡扎里。

Women's Caucus To Fight For 30 Per Cent Quota, November 20, 2008

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- A caucus of women MPs wants the 30 per cent quota for women to hold high posts in the public and private sectors to be implemented immediately.

Its chairman, Nancy Shukri, said this would be the main cause of struggle for the country's 23 women MPs, besides the problem of sexual harassment of women.

"This caucus was formed on July 17 after realising that there were many issues involving women that needed to be raised and addressed," she told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

She said the women's caucus made it easier for women-related matters to be brought up in Parliament.

Nancy, who is also Batang Sadong MP, said a small committee called the Gender Equality Committee would be formed to allow male MPs to join the caucus.

"Women's issues are varied and do not only involve women," she said.

The caucus is chaired by Nancy, with Chong Eng (DAP-Bukit Mertajam) as deputy chairman and Norah Abdul Rahman (BN-Tanjong Manis) as secretary.
